Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.

The popular resale platform has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments but did not contact all users about the change.

Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.

The platform stated the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.

It has advised users to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.

Measurement Approach Modifications

Before the change, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.

Manual Updates

Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she said.

Marketplace Information

The service features exceeding 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.

It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
